Kitchen Renovating Ideas – Using Tiles For Prettier Kitchens

December 30th, 2009 Param Punya No comments

Tiles are so important to kitchen decor that they can literally make or break a kitchen. One of the reasons for such immense power is that tiles are very versatile. They come in such myriad sizes, shapes, colors and texture that millions of beautiful patterns can be woven out of them. If tiles are given a prominent role in kitchen decor then no two kitchens would look alike.

Kitchen tile ideas

Always use tiles from different materials like ceramic, stone or glass to give the kitchen the correct appearance. The doors should contrast with the color of the kitchen floor. That way the kitchen would look bigger. The colors of the walls, floors and working surface should not be coordinated. To create an impression you should go for contrasting or accented colors. While doing the tiling, remember to color the grouting. A contrasting grouting color would make the kitchen more attractive but show up grouting faults. While a coordinated grouting color would give the kitchen a seamless look.

Different kinds of tiles are used in different parts of the kitchen. Tiles that are easy to clean and take care are used for the backsplash. For flooring tiles that can withstand wear and tear and last long must be used. This is main reason why glass is used only as accents on floors. Tiles that become slippery like glazed tiles are also not suitable for the floor. Color of floor tiles is also important. Contrasting dark floor tiles make the kitchen look bigger

Walls are the correct place to have the loveliest patterns. They have the space to provide you with a work of art, if you have the money for it. The counter top tiles should be able to withstand heat, be long lasting, strong, non porous and easy to clean.

You can make your kitchen look really pretty with the right kitchen tiles - if you know how to. For more kitchen tile ideas visit Truly Lovely Home.

Long Islands Best Hamburgers

December 29th, 2009 L.J. James No comments

When it comes to food, I am no gourmet expert. I do however know what I like. Now there are many foods that I love and really like but when it comes down to it one of my Favorite foods has to be Hamburgers!

Now I have been all over and while I have been to some really great Burger Joints in Upstate NY and a few other states, I have spent allot of my life on Long Island in New York. There are many great places to eat here on Long Island but when it comes to Hamburgers I have two favorite places.

The first is "All American Hamburger Drive" in 4286 Merrick Rd Massapequa, NY 11758 this place has been around as long as I can remember. As a kid growing up every trip home from Jones Beach always ended with a stop at this old fashion Burger Joint. Their is always a line outside of All American but the wait is worth it. They have two Burgers I love Their Quarter pounder with Cheese and their Double Double which is a double Burger with double cheese. I have been trying to figure out which one I like better for years. I have had fun trying but have not figured it out yet, If I ever Figure it out I will let you all know ! All American also has some of the best Fries, Onion Rings, Knishes and Milk Shakes I have ever had!

Now where All American Hamburger Drive In sells a fast food style Burger and I love them, There is also another Style Burger which I love too and that is the Bar Burger! Their are many really great places on Long Island that sell some really Great Bar Burgers but as the old saying goes when it comes to the best "their can be only one"!

My Favorite Long Island Bar Burger I have had so far has got to be from the "Triangle Pub" 381 Old Montauk Hwy Eastport, NY 11941 I have been to this place a bunch of times over the years and their Burgers are always Great! Now I can only speak about their large Burgers (Never got one of the small ones). The Triangle Pub is known by many across Long Island for its Giant Burgers and Giant Glasses of Ice Cold Beer! There is not much to say about the place as I have never had anything there beside the Beer and large Burger meal. The people are friendly, The service is good, The Location is Nice and the Giant Burger and Beer Combo with French fries or onion rings is incredible. I love stopping by either for dinner or lunch !

Like I said before I am not a food expert I just know what I like. I have not eaten every where on Long Island so if you know of a place that you think serves better Burgers then the two I have just told you about then let me know what they are called and where they are located and I will be there!

I also really Like Chicken Wings!!! L.J. James www.americanbikerx.com

Using Wendy’s Coupons For Great Savings

December 27th, 2009 Collette Quinn No comments

If you are one of the many people eating at Wendy's you know why you love the food. Whether it is the burgers that appeal to the meat eater in all of us or you love the idea of a baked potato instead of a side of greasy French fries, Wendy's is a great alternative to mass produced burgers. Many people also like the fact that the food is a good price as well as being great tasting.

Everyone loves eating well especially when they are on the move or in a hurry. Being able to save money while enjoying delicious food can be even better. If you are serious about saving money you may want to make sure that you can find Wendy's coupons in order to save money each time you eat out. If you want to be able to find coupons you should get in the habit of searching different sources including newspapers, flyer packages, mass mailers that may be sent to your home and websites that let you print coupons off when you need them.

If you don't have regular access to a computer you should look in your newspaper. Often if Wendy's has a new promotional item such as a new kind of sandwich or new flavor of Frosty Shake, they will offer their customers coupon sheets in the newspaper. They may also send them as part of mailer packages that get sent to homes.

You may have heard about many other restaurants and how hard it can be to find coupons that those restaurants put out but Wendy's is not like that. It is very easy to make sure that you have coupons to take with you when you go to eat at any Wendy's. Making sure that their customers can access coupons easily is just one more way that Wendy's shows how much they appreciate customer loyalty.

Because you can easily print out coupons you don't need to worry about stocking up on them like you do with coupons from other places to eat. Because you can get them whenever you need them, you should be able to print out only the ones that you need rather than trying to stock up. Stocking up may mean that many of your coupons expire before you get the chance to use them especially if they are only valid for items that you are unlikely to purchase. The fact that they are easy to find is one reason why Wendy's is such a popular restaurant.

Experts feel that learning how to live well within your means is a skill that people need to learn. Utilizing methods such as coupon collecting can make all the difference in your budget while still allowing you to enjoy a meal out with friends or family.

Use Wendys Wendys coupon for cheaper meals out. Find out some more special coupons deals on my website. Grab a totally unique version of this article from the Uber Article Directory

Great Soil Recipe And Raised Bed Gardening Advice

December 26th, 2009 Charles Hannah No comments

When you've finished building your raised bed either from a kit or from scratch, you'll be ready to start raised bed gardening. Though your chosen spot might be looking a little empty right now, there are plenty of things you can do to populate your garden with beautiful plants and make sure that those plants stay alive for a long time.

Using proper soil, watering carefully and maintaining your garden to prevent disease and weeds will do a lot to keep your garden looking fresh and clean.

Watch The pH Levels Of Your Soil

Many soil mixtures exist for the budget conscious consumer, but the one I've had the best success with follows this simple recipe: one quarter yard soil mixed with a combination of compost and sand. This will kickstart growth in the bed and provide plenty of sustenance. Monitor your pH levels. If they're too high, nothing will grow.

Minimize Weeds

The configuration of your raised bed garden on a physical level should be enough to ward off weeds, but if some start to get in, don't take it too hard. Simply drop some organic mulch over the top and use weed guarding items. If, after this step, weeds still insist on coming back, you can remove them by hand. It's not overly difficult. Put some more mulch on top to block them from sunlight. This is an ongoing battle, so you're going to see good and bad days.

Water The Appropriate Amounts

If you're unsure of what to do for water, it's best to go manually. This way, you can direct the water exactly where you want it: at the base of the plants themselves rather than the surrounding dirt. Irrigation systems can come in handy if you've got the money, as their drip technology will keep your plants at a more optimum water level than you could hope for doing it by hand. Overhead watering is the only real no-no, as it will leave too much moisture and leave plants susceptible to disease.

Simple To Maintain

Raised bed gardening is particularly attractive to busy people because they require precious little in the way of real maintenance. If yours is made of brick and mortar, go out and kick it every now and then to make sure it won't fall over, and that's about it. Make sure to water your plants and turn the soil over periodically. Add in a little organic material here and there.

If the garden starts to pick up disease, empty your garden immediately and put in brand new soil for your plants. On a physical level, if your bed is built from bricks, make sure you check to make sure it's still steady to prevent anything falling.

The low maintenance may be a strong factor in choosing raised bed gardening over other options, but let's face it: raised bed gardens look beautiful and can add a set piece to your yard that will start the neighbors talking. For such a small investment, how can it not be worth it?

Building raised garden beds isn't as difficult as you'd think, and there's very little maintenance once you're finished. Having proper tips for soil and plants will help. Keep in mind all the veggies you can produce and the pure delight of having reaised garden beds, no reason not to start today! buy your kits from reliable sellers for quality products.

Accessorizing Your Wood Burning Stove

December 24th, 2009 Eliza Melzono No comments

This winter season you have decided to use a wood burning stove. But to keep the wood burning stove interesting and easy to use, it would probably be best to have some accessories to go along with it. There is quite the variety of different accessories to choose from, but the following are the ones you should consider first.

Basket's And Log Carriers

If your wood burning stove is built for logs, you need to be sure you have the means to collect and carry your logs all the way from your woodpile. Both the basket and carrier made for logs is essential to making the whole process of moving logs to your stove much simpler. Each of them can come in many different types of materials and even more sizes and styles. The one we prefer is the wicker style basket. It does not only transports but it does quite well at storing the logs as well. Not only is it functional, but it is quite stylish fitting in with any country style home or cottage.

If you want a more "up-to-date" look with a bit more durability, you should consider the metal carriers. Make sure you think about how the certain style of basket you choose will fit in your home.

Thermometers

It is vital to have a thermometer for your wood stove. Not only will it help keep you safe, it will also make sure your stove is burning efficiently. This type of thermometer hooks onto the stove top or up on the stovepipe.

The Fun Stuff: Steamers and Kettles

You're wood burning stove is not just for show. You want to have fun while giving it a purpose all in one. That's why having a few nice accessories to go with it is important. Kettles meant for wood stoves are great for popping up some good ole traditional popcorn. If you want to humidify a room, simply poor water into the kettle and let it go. By adding just a bit of potpourri you can not only humidify the room but give it a nice fragrant scent.

You will find all kinds of kettles, but the porcelain ones tend to be the top choice due to their rust resistance. A trivet will be an essential tool if you plan to cook on the wood stove. A trivet designed for a wood stove will protect the stove top from developing any rust spots that the steamers or kettles may leave behind.

It can be a great idea to add a wood burning stove to your house for both functional and aesthetic reasons. Having accessories for your wood burning stove can keep things fun, safe, and cost efficient.

Top Tips For Food Photography

December 19th, 2009 James Wong No comments

Food photography is a very technical area of photography because you have two dimensions to master - film and food. Here are some useful tips to help you.

Lighting the scene

Light is obviously the tool of a photographer second to the camera itself. Getting this right is always the trick with any kind of photography. With food photography though it is super important. Get it wrong and no amount of photoshop work will bring the picture to life.

Use of props

The right props can bring a simple food dish alive. Some food types like fast food is dull and lifeless so choosing the right props of fresh fruit, vegetables, plates, candles etc will make the dull become magic. To be s good food photographer you must have a special eye and flair for design. if you have this skill naturally you will fly.

If you do a lot of food photography then shopping at second hand markets can be a great way to build your box of props. You can pick up expensive items like large pots and dishes and vases for a few dollars and a smile. If you do not do much then you may have to go shopping for what you need and bill the client!

Be fast or else!

Unfortunately food won't stay appealing for very long. As a food photographer you will want to be well prepared and ready to shoot your picture as soon as the dish is finished. This will give it no time to melt, collapse or lose its color. So knowing what you want the picture to turn out like will help you to prepare for the photo. One way food photographers prepare is to have everything arranged before the food is finished. By placing a temporary stand-in plate is an excellent way to get the lighting right, and when the food is finished you switch it with the finished dish and your picture is ready to be taken.

Way to improve your food photographs

One simple way is to simply use a light high quality vegetable oil and brush it on the food! This will create a high quality shiny finish that we love to see on food.

Touch base with the chef

The last area to cover is working with you food professional. If you are unlucky you will have to do the presentation of the food yourself. If you are lucky and the client has a good budget you will have a chef to do the food display.

Take a few minutes before the shoot to talk with the chef and ask them how they like to work. Ask them if there is anything you need to know about the food that may not be obvious. If nothing else this will make them feel good so you will then be able to work closer and better together.

Great Waffle Iron

Review Date: April 30, 2007
Reviewer: B. Cohn, Montana
We received this waffle iron as a wedding gift four years ago and have been using it frequently ever since. We wanted a heavy duty waffle iron like the food service department had at our colleges, only not as expensive and one that does not require as much counter space, so we got this one.

What is great about this waffle iron:
1. After four years of frequent use the cooking surface is in great condition. Granted, you MUST spray the surface with cooking spray to avoid sticking, but for those of us who forget to do that every once in a while the clean up is easy. I only spray the iron twice while cooking a batch of four to five waffles.
2. Easy storage! We live in a small house and do not have a lot of counter space. It is so helpful that the cord wraps around the base and the iron is light enough to be stored high up in a cupboard so I only need to use one hand to reach it.
3. CLEAN! This is the cleanest waffle iron I have ever had the pleasure of using. Things tend to get messy in this household and I have always been impressed with how easy it is to clean this waffle iron. All I ever use is a clean cloth to wipe down the inside. Occasionally I'll have to scrub the outside if we overfill it and leave it sit too long.
4. It rarely overflows. It seems that whenever we attempt to overfill it the waffle puffs up rather than spill over the sides. This is a great feature, even if it is accidental.
5. I have tried at least 10 different waffle recipes in this iron and they all turned out great. My favorite recipe is the one that is included with the waffle iron when you buy it, but I have temporarily lost the book.
6. I have never had a burnt waffle. It is probably due to the combination of the beeper and the temperature settings, but I am satisfied.

CONS:
1. The hinge seems to have gotten a little loose with age, although it has not affected the quality of the waffles.
2. I like my waffles crispy on the outside and soft on the inside and have found that I need to set the iron at 7 (the max) before they come out the way I like. It would be nice if the iron had a little more range than 7 but I suppose they are trying to avoid a "burnt" setting.
3. The beeper is effective in that I must attend to the waffle iron or else I'll go nuts from the chirping. Although, it is a nice way to let the family know that breakfast is ready and the chirping does not appear to bother anyone else but me.
4. This has nothing to do with the iron itself, but I wish they posted their waffle recipes on their website.

This is the best waffle iron we have used that is not industrial grade. I highly recommend this to anyone who does an average amount of waffle making.
So good you'll be inviting more people to brunch

Review Date: October 29, 2005
Reviewer: SarahV, Boston, MA
I love my new waffler! My brother has the square version of this guy, and his edges always come out underdone. I guess the heating coil is round because mine are perfect every time! This is so easy to use and waffles always come out perfect, I find myself hosting and inviting more people over to brunch. Definitely worth the money! (My favorite waffle recipe is from Joy of Cooking--use both sticks of butter, the buttery, cripys flavour is divine!)
Nice Waffle makes

Review Date: February 24, 2006
Reviewer: J. Paris, San Diego, CA
This one works great. I had a square krupps waffle maker before and this one is ten times better....cooks better, heats faster, looks better, and the audible ready alert is great. I saw this one on Good Eats on Food Network, and I am thrilled that I have this one....exactly what I wanted!
You won't be disappointed

Review Date: September 3, 2006
Reviewer: T. Kinney, Charlotte,NC
Bought this based on the recomendation of Good Eats. I use AB's basic waffle recipe and adjust the proportions of white and wheat flour to suit my taste that day. The temperature control works best set at 7, except when I make cornbread waffles which come out best set at 5. I initially used non stick spray but found in unnecessary with butter in the recipe. The deep texture of the waffles make them great for holding on to whatever you choose to top them.
Makes great waffles every time

Review Date: March 21, 2006
Reviewer: T. Denman, Florida USA
Round wafflers are better than square ones since pouring batter on the waffler spreads in a circular pattern and evenly fills the area. This is probably why I disliked any square one I bought. We make a lot of waffles and love this waffler. It is consistent in making waffles just the way you like them since you can adjust the browning (making softer or crisper waffles). Well made, reasonable price and wipe-easy clean. Just don't overfill with batter - you'll get the hang of it!

Ideas For Choosing A Restaurant

December 18th, 2009 Adriana Noton No comments

If you are interested in choosing a restaurant, there are many details to consider. Cost, convenience, and the quality of the food must all be examined. Also worth considering is occasion. Once these details are solved, food type must then be considered.

I will examine the many factors that go into choosing a place to eat. Additionally, I will examine the various different food types available.

Things to consider:

Occasion - Formal settings are appropriate for meals in which you are trying to impress a guest with. For large gatherings, family style establishments are appropriate. However, if you are by yourself, you might try a fast-food establishment.

Convenience - Choosing a service that is convenient can be an integral part of the decision making process. For example, perhaps the easiest transaction is to select delivery or take-out dining.

Quality - Overall quality can affect many details of your dining experience. The ingredients, nutritional value, and overall restaurant atmosphere can have varying degrees of quality.

Cost - Keeping in mind your budget for food is important when deciding on a restaurant. Always remember that price can affect your overall enjoyment of the food.

Types of food:

American - If you like cheeseburgers and fries washed down with a shake, you'll love this type of place.

Mexican - Many people's favorite ethnic food, Mexican dishes can vary greatly. Enjoy tacos, burritos, tamales, and more.

Asian - Great for a healthy lifestyle, Asian food is rich in protein and vegetables. Try your dish of rice with chicken or tofu.

Sushi - If you are concerned with healthy choices, try seaweed and fish with this prestigious selection.

South American - Offering well-respected steak from Argentina, as well as a diet rich in meat, potatoes and regional plants, this is a delicious option.

Southern - For the healthy-hearted, dig in to fried treats like chicken and catfish, or even things out with a plate of greens.

Italian - Pizza, pasta, and lasagna. Need I say more? Choose from the many variations of the above dishes.

French - Often times when people think of French food, they think of pastries. The choices I'm sure are endless.

Seafood - Choose a simple shellfish, or something more unique like swordfish or squid.

Types of restaurants:

Fast food - If you want food that is quick and filling, but murder on your health, this is the choice for you.

Order at counter - Order at the front, get your food relatively fast, don't worry about the tip, and enjoy quality dishes. A great option.

Diner - Nostalgic places that offer simple classics like apple pie a la mode. Grab a seat at the counter, or a booth with your friends.

Sit down restaurant - Usually offering the best food, in a formal setting, with excellent atmosphere. This is the choice for special occasions.

Delivery - For a usually small fee and tip to the delivery person, have your food dropped off at home to by enjoyed without the hustle and bustle of big crowds.

The many options above go to show the various decisions that must be made when one chooses a restaurant. Hopefully this information has provided you with the insights on food choice necessary to come to a decision.

Wholesale Sweets As Bring Home Treats

December 17th, 2009 Michael Parker No comments

Have you known that it is an important custom for other countries that people bring something home with them from their trip? Other countries have their custom as this- a person should bring something to a home he is about to visit. The gifts involved in these traditions are usually wholesale sweets, foods and household ornaments. Whatever people bring, however, these traditions are definitely sweet and very hospitable.

If a person just came home from another country, he can purchase or bring home that country's delicacy, souvenirs and other local products. Surely there are lots of local wholesale sweets there, extraordinary items and fascinating products. When he takes one of these home, it goes to say that he also wants to share a piece of what he has experienced from his trip.

In the other tradition, the offering of wholesale sweets, foods and house decors of the visitor is viewed as very respectful and generous. In fact, this custom dates back to ancient times when tribes would offer goods as a sign that they came in peace and want friendship. So this custom is primitive but it is good to realize it has survived. It's important to know that even before, people have interacted nicely with each other.

Wholesale sweets can consist of so many treats from around the world. Visiting Belgium, for example, one can fill his pack with varieties of luscious chocolates and other classic old European candies. Some of these are flavored in licorice among others. In the Middle East, they also have their own version of sweets such as preserved and sugared dates and so much more.

In hot countries or tropical paradise such as in Asia, wholesale sweets are flavored with different varieties of the sweetest and sun ripe fruits such as mango, papaya, pineapple, lychee and so much more. In Asia, people can also find exotic and unique fruits used as flavors for different kinds of sweets. These fruits are the famous durian, rambutan and a lot more unique tropical fruits. In cold places such as in Northern America, sweets are commonly flavored in peppermint, all kinds of berries, apples, wintergreen and a lot more.

Bringing some treats home or to a household is a very admirable tradition because beyond the carrying of wholesale sweets, baskets of fruits, casseroles and boxes of ornaments, are signs of generosity and humanity. Every human should be proud of this tradition and should pass it on to their children. These gestures, whether people acknowledge it or not, represent love, peace and friendship.
